One of the most common questions we're asked is whether window film is a lasting solution or something that peels and bubbles after a year. Fitted properly, quality film lasts many years — here's what determines its lifespan.
Quality of the film
Cheap, DIY films can discolour, bubble and peel quickly. Quality, manufacturer-backed films — the only kind we fit — are engineered to resist fading and adhesive failure, and are typically covered by manufacturer warranties.
Quality of the installation
Most film failures come down to poor fitting — trapped dirt, air bubbles or lifting edges. Clean, professional installation is what gives film its long, trouble-free life, which is where 30+ years of experience pays off.
Where it's fitted
Interior film, protected from the weather, lasts longest. Exterior film, used where interior fitting isn't possible, has a shorter life because it's exposed to the elements — but is still a durable, warrantied product.
Looking after it
Film needs almost no maintenance — just clean it with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner, and avoid scrubbing the edges. That's it.
The bottom line
Quality film, professionally fitted to the inside of your glass, is a genuine long-term investment that should give you many years of comfort and protection. If film ever does need removing, a professional can do so cleanly.
